Troop Leaders

Judi Platt

Scoutmaster

I am excited about being a Scoutmaster for a wonderful group of scouts. I have been with the BSA for 18 years. Going through scouts with my two boys, I always thought the BSA program should be offered to young women.

The program teaches such great life skills. It also teaches leadership, confidence, courage and trustworthiness. It was wonderful when BSA opened their curriculum to young women.

I have been trained through the BSA in the Scoutmaster course, Youth Protection, Weather Emergencies, Baloo(camping) and many other courses. I have been a den leader, assistant Cub master, Cub master, Assistant Scout Master, and Merit Badge counselor.

Ann Stewart-Akers

Assistant Scout Master

I started with Boy Scouts when my son joined Cub Scouts in second grade. I have been helping scouts achieve their goals and enjoyed camping adventures since then. I grew up in Girl Scouts in a troop that was dedicated to service, my scout leaders lived the adventure and demonstrated the best ways to  achieve our goals through action and service. So when I found out I could help young women learn to be active citizens through the Boy Scout program, I could not wait to be a part of this troop.

I love the outdoors and enjoy camping. The highlight of any camping trip is the smores around the camp fire. I have helped the scouts learn about the importance of physical fitness, first aid and how to be a good citizen. Scouting gives young people a safe place to explore new interests and try some new activities such as water sports or hiking. I have earned training badges a scout leader needs to be a leader.

When I am not working with the scouts I teach microbiology at South University.  I enjoy helping students learn to be the best health care professionals possible.

Samuel and Humprey

Webmaster

Many thanks to my son, Samuel and his dog, Humphrey for making this website possible. I made a simple request to be taught how to start a website and he ran with it. Samuel is an Eagle Scout and is always helpful. He has taken scouts to summer camp and has many fond memories of scouting. One day, I hope he will find another troop in Minnesota and become part of them. Thank you from the heart.
